IMAP: All emails will be synced to other devices using the internet. Then all emails will be downloaded to all folders via the internet.

Cellphone listening on my conversation. Told the client about pop/imap in one telephone conversation today and now see it recommended.

Is not true that you can't read messages in case internet connection lost. Basically is one huge different between pop3 and imap is read messages way: When POP reads whole messages (and storing on local machine), IMAP reads messages headers only (like title etc) until you click on the message. When you want to read, message content is joined and stored in the same way like in POP case (and still stored in mail server)
So, if you read the message once in the past – you have also available them offline.

I need help, I deleted my Google account. But it's still on my Microsoft. I've been trying to get my old email back so it cant delete my Microsoft and destroy all my xbox progress.
How do I get it back so i can insure its safety!?

IMAP itself doesn't cache, this is done by your mail client, and most email clients behave very similarly (as far as the INBOX goes) with both POP3 and IMAP. They will usually "leave mail on server" by default when using POP3, and also delete messages on the client side if they are deleted from the server from a different device.

Most desktop email clients will also download the same amount of a message with both POP3 and IMAP. Mail clients can also "just cache" the emails and not "download" them using POP3, due to the "TOP" command, which will allow for only downloading of the email headers. The UIDL POP3 command also allows mail clients to see if messages have been removed from the server by other clients, or if new messages have arrived.

The biggest advantage of IMAP is the ability to have a common view between multiple clients (i.e. desktop thick client, mobile device, and web-based "webmail" client), inclusive of folder organization. If you only use a single client, you would not really notice any difference.

IMAP allows more visibility in mailbox changes from different devices, which is useful if you are actively using different devices (desktop, mobile, and webmail), and especially if different people are accessing the same mailbox (i.e. support mailbox of a company account). This includes whether or not an email has already been read, or replied to.

So internet message access protocol, is way better than pop
(Post office protocol)
1)Pop- downloads only inbox
2) IMAP- downloads inbox and all the remaining folders
1)Pop- can be used only in 1 device
2) IMAP- Can be used in multiple devices
1)Pop- after downloading all the emails will be deleted from mail server where as in imap it doesn't happen like that
