Using Outlook 2010 & GoDaddy with IMAP — very slow to sync folders, we get lots of “not responding” or “disconnected” errors, and we often see huge delays in receiving messages (hours). SSL seems to exacerbate the problem.
I've been experimenting with Outlook 2010, Windows Live Mail 2012, and the open source email client, Zimbra. The problems occur only with Microsoft products. Zimbra has no performance issues at all.

Thanks for the info. On relating topic, why is my gmail list of folders collapses every time I open outlook? Where else my ISP email and live.com.au email remain open/expand every time outlook is open.

Gmail IMAP is just slow. I configured this way from at the start…I wonder how bad it would have been otherwise. My old POP accounts (regardless of provider) were much faster. If it were not for live update between laptop/phone/desktop I would go back to POP. What is the lowest cost way to have FAST IMAP not tied to your ISP (in case you switch)…anyone know? I guess I'm talking about my own domain name unless there is a cheaper alternative.

Hi, that video is very helpful. Since switching to using gmail with outlook 2007 I have also found some people complaining of not receiving my attachments. I have checked all configurations. Have you come across this?
