Scandinavian design- creating a warm and cossy space. By been light, airy, simple, modern and neutral.
ELEMENTS
-white walls
-natural wood
-natural fabrics
-light curtains
-neutral color palettes, almost nude
-maximize the light from the windows
-minimal simple clean furniture
-no clutter
-no carpets
-get plants into the space
-warmth elements like a fire place, blankets, candles, etc.
I WILL ADD
-mixing old and new
-tidy up, clear the space
-dimmed lighting on the lamps
-subdue abstract artwork either very big or very small, black and white color usually
-ceramics and glass are good as accessories
-furniture elevated of the ground
-animal pelts

Could you do one on industrial design?
This is probably more of a cultural thing, but in Denmark (I can't speak for Norway and Sweden, but I assume it's similar) we care a lot about designer interior. One of the things Denmark prides and brands itself on internationally (other than Lego) is our design classics. So for us it's not just about the style, but also about having some of those classic design pieces. Denmark especially is probably most know for our iconic chairs, but we also have iconic lamps, vases, and lots of other things.
So a lot of young people (including myself) often wish for these design pieces or save up to buy them – even if it's expensive, but it's like an investment to us and it carrier cultural and historical significance to us. We also care a lot about porcelain and plates and such with the most iconic brand being Royal Copenhagen. But we like quality and often associate those iconic brands with that. So Scandinavian design is actually very focused on expensive brands, although of course you can still achieve the style itself for much less.
But then as a con, many Danish homes look very similar cause we gravitate towards the same pieces (e.g. PH lamps and the Kay Bojesen wooden decorative figures). But we don't think of it as embarrassing if we have the same design pieces, cause they're quality collectibles almost. Hope this makes sense.

I love Scandinavian … but I also love my duplex flat, which was built in 1900. The flat is a cross between late Victorian and Arts & Crafts, with lots of wood (some very dark stained), detailed natural wood trim, solid oak floors, even a bit of stained glass. I like it, but it does not go with Scandinavian furnishings! Or … could it be made to work somehow?
Would one piece of bamboo furniture (Nordkisa from Ikea) fit in a Scandinavian decor? 🤔

I love the simplicity n colour scheme, but don't know how to control the bright light coming in from the window..it just makes the space look washed out..

I have fam in Sweden and not all scandi is like you describe. Also ikea is so bad in all categories.
Great video, thank you! I am about to move to a house where the fixed elements would be more traditional/new traditional I think (espresso fireplace mantel and kitchen cabinets, medium wood floors). Can I still pull off scandinavian design with these dark elements, using furniture etc? Walls are painted a greige colour right now.
In north Norway the sun is gone for some places more than two months in mid winter. It gets dark around 2 – half past 2 pm, we have a kind of dim daylight between 10 am and 2 pm. In Svalbard it's even darker, but then we have sun around the clock in mid summer.
This is my style def and some minimalism 🙂
