I just bought a Synology and upgraded to DSM 7. I then created the backup plans for the PCs. When I created a recovery USB and tried it to du a bare metal restore, I get that the current version of the agent is older. Please update the agent. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

This product has saved the bacon twice this year once from ransomware and the second time from results of blackout power failure rendering the server unable to boot. Synology ABB is an excellent product the only drawback is slow to respond support if needed and understanding all of the options available for recovery.

in "Source Type" If I choose "System Volume" ( i do not want backup secondary internal drives) the backup will be bootable?
Media creator doesn't work and their big tutorial for it sucks and doesn't work the commends they have you copy and paste into cmd don't work. If it was as easy as they say then yes.

Clear as mud. Can't they go through this a lot slower and with more detail? Goes from talking about clicking on PC or Server but then not doing anything but going straight to Settings to make a template which appears optional. Couldn't work out a thing.
Otherwise happy with the Synology kit (1019+) which is my second NAS. But they need better instruction. We're not all 18 year old guys in IT depts.
There is plenty of solutions out there that can "backup". But when it comes to restore, especially bare metal or diff drive it's a comedy. I'm afraid synology solution is no better. Backup works nice, restore is a lottery.
For small or mid size network with all clients being the same model – OK. Any difference from source client and it's roller coaster.

Can't bare-metal restore via WiFi. Really. In 2020, they think your laptop should come with an ethernet connection. That's a pretty big non-starter for me. Glad I actually tested the product before I needed to use it.
Been in IT for over 25 years. This is a GREAT feature, if you don't think so you are smoking crack. I redcued the cloud backup costs for a small business by just under $1,000 a month. With ZERO recurring fees. It works, easy interface, and once I setup users to a backup_admin group they can revover their own files and do their own restores. GREAT PRODUCT.
The PC client only ever gives an error saying it can't connect. No reason for it, the client CAN connect to the NAS at the IP address with the given credentials. Is this because my NAS isn't using BTRFS? If so, for goodness sake fix the error message or at least add some hints as to what might be wrong.
This is so complex and messed up, that I send the whole backup by Synology to trash. Why the heck user should download just anything? Go and learn, how to do it with Veeam client. Also – no ability for an end user to pause/cancel backup, so once scheduled on the server, you can't do anything about it on the client side?
After Backup a OS from a previous hardware, then can I restore the OS on a different hardware? is the OS worked with the different new hardware?
Why is it called "for business", can't this be used for normal home users also? Is it only for marketing reasons?

Maybe more availability of 10gbe on the boxes would help speed this up?
