  1. may be because is just the GBP that is weaker, just as it was the AUD when dropped to 18 Bt a Dollar. I been idling on my Foreign account for 3 years then last month I changed to Thai currency due to the change in saving insurance (FDA do not have any by the way) and of course now I don't want to see the Thai Baht drop but rise….and it will, as soon this Gov. will pack his bags, millions of tourist are dribbling from those watery mouths, and nowhere anybody can find romantic vacation as hot as here(tell me if I am wrong)but really, what ever the courrency will do…I don't give a shit…I am here and here I'm gonna stay.

  2. WHEN I MOVED TO THAILAND IN 2004 IT WAS 71 THAI BAHT TO THE POUND. NOW TODAY IT IS 46.33 GREAT NEWS FOR EXPATS.THANKS TO THE LOCKDOWNS I CANT SEE IT RECOVERING. I SUSPECT THAT IN ABOUT ONE YEAR ITWILL GO ABOVE 50 BAHT TP THE POUND, AND IT WONT STOP THERE

  3. Baht used to be protected by Thailands massive foreign basket of currencies. It was $16 billion last year, was down to 1.6bil by march this year. I suspect it has something to do with lack of tourist spending.

  4. Best I’ve ever seen was Thb 55 to the Pound autumn of 2015.
Where’s it going ? Who knows, but I’m guessing somewhere in the Thb 40 – 45 range over the next ten years. I feel for the guys that retired here on fixed pensions when it was Thb 70+.

  5. In last 10 years the highest was 33 against a $.. well it is so strong because Thailand % of exports in its GDP is among the best when one compares to its geographical size and population.. but the tourist dollars drying now should logically reflect in this year..

  6. The Thai Baht has been increasing in value over the pass 20 years but last went march 2019 and if you got 41 baht to the pound you where lucky.
What is a worry is that if the baht was to weaken would our pound also weaken with the UK been battered (with what's been going on worldwide)

  7. Like I said the aussie dollar worst around 19 baht but that was around 26 or 27 years ago the best was probably when I stayed in samui 1996 thai baht went to the floor but happy days aussie was 35 or 36 I went 2 years or so back it was hopeless 21 I mean 27 or 28 bearable the best thing that could ever happen is it gets weaker otherwise I don,t see a big future for there tourists influx people will look elsewhere which had started about 8 to ten years ago anyway seeya

  8. Once Brexit occurs, there will probably be a relief rally in Sterling that will move it up by around 5% against most currencies. I think that is the short term outlook and it probably won't last. My base currency in actually Chinese Yuan and the exchange rate is basically the same as it was a decade ago – although over the past 5 years it too has lost value against the THB and is well off its 2015 peak. In general, Thailand receives large capital inflows from tourism (not really in 2020 though) and has a regular trade surplus – even now. This is in part attributable to lower imports due to weak economic growth. The main factor though is without doubt the fact the the Bank of Thailand is quite hawkish in terms of interest rate policy (in 2019 they were hiking), leading to low to no inflation and has not resorted to QE. This makes it a nice currency to park some funds in for speculators, especially those from the south east Asian region whose own currencies are less stable or recognized. Personally, I think the outlook for Emerging markets is bright in 2021 and beyond. This should see further balance of payments moves in favor of THB appreciation and this will conflate with the return of tourists. I would expect most developed nations economies to continue to under perform as they work off the impact of the virus and print more money to redress the economic effects. This is all baht positive. Only commodity currencies like AUD or MYR are likely to be able to maintain pace with the Baht. The dollar, pound and Euro certainly won't.

  9. Your Bias towards the Pound ,, There’s other currencies in the world 🌎, Kev in Thailand 🇹🇭 RIP always showed the Baht against US Aud pound Can ada $ Etc Etc ,people want to know 🙀⁉️🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

  10. The best was when I was there when nick leeson ( the bank fraudster) was caught and the thai bant went crazy overnight and my pound went crazy , was approx 26 years ago, it made my holiday .

  11. Great video mate,
Thailand is such a popular destination,
It has it all for a tourist.
I think the Thai government knows people will be gagging for a holiday when the Thai borders open,so I think it will stay around where it is.
74 baths to the pound April 2004

  12. The best I had was $1 Aussie 33 baht
Someone told me Thailand owes to much money and has to start paying
    Back
If that’s true or not ????

  13. Anybody moving to another country should always plan on worst case. Prior to the asian crash in 1997, the exchange of the UK pound to the Thai baht was the same as now. I first started going to Thailand in 1989, the exchange rate was 40, and it actually dropped to 36 a few years later. Unfortunately it is not low now, it has just taken 20 years to get back to its correct level. Without another asian crash, the rate will stay as it is now for many years to come, but we are now in uncertain times due to covid, so who knows.

  14. The Western World is in worse shape financially than Thailand. Things will change if Thailand does not get the
virus under control and open up to the tourists The Baht is tied to the USD. There is a lot of questionable money in Thailand. That helps
to keep the Thai Baht strong.

  15. 2 sides to this…..for those of us getting paid in THB and are in a position to send money to UK (I hope to soon!) then the strong Baht works for us, however totally accept the point as I have had to move money from UK to Thai over last 2 years and was nearly in tears when it fell to 36….. The good old days of 70+ will never return for sure but would be good to see it crawl back up to 50…… Just found your channel and will hit the red button directly after this as a new subscriber…. good luck and keep the vids flowing….. nice to see a newbie channel as some of the others are getting very boring now….. CHEERS

  16. I got 99 baht to the pound in 1996 due to the Asian crash it went down to 70 something then around 64 for many years but things were very cheap in those days I first went to Thailand in 1986 lived there for many years now Thailand is expensive and the baht is one of the strongest currencies on earth not value for money any more compared to many other destinations

  17. I remember the days in the early 2000s it was 70-75 bhat to the pound . Hi things have changed . The government will be reluctant to weaken the value of the bhat if lucky it may rise to 45 bhat to the pound but the heady days of 60-70 bhat have gone

  18. The government and the don't want to devalue the Thai Baht they don't really care about the poor Thai people as they have all the money . The import duty is a big joke too . Surely if they dropped the import duty they could do more business with buying and selling products . All the farmers here can't export there produce now as the baht is so strong but the gov do nothing . As the young Thais now have the internet they can see how the rest of the world is run and are starting to wonder why they are suppressed

  19. Also factor in right now despite current government in charge, there has been stability for the last 5 years and also like a few have said. Manufacturing and agriculture also play a part.

Yes the Brexit vote, when we voted to leave the EU, plummeted in a matter or hours from 55 baht to 47 baht. Will it improve once we have formally cut ties with the EU on 31st December 2020? Who knows.

Only glimmer of hope is that Thailand needing income from tourism, even if the current government ended up with major face loss with the STV visa and no Chinese actually applied for this. May have to admit defeat that they need tourism in general to kick-start their economy and not rely on Chinese elites with huge bank accounts with a reluctance to spend money to normal businesses in favour of lavish shopping establishments and upmarket hotels.
