Hi
Could you pl let me know how to change the ost file location of 2013 outlook. Currently its on default folder and when i try to cut and paste that file to some other location. It creates a new ost file on a same location and start to download all the mail start from beginning .
I am using imap for better synchronise…..plz help
Works! Used this for Outlook 2016 – just click 16.0 instead of 13.0.
Thanks, that worked like a charm. If you do not want to mess about registry just copy this text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice16.0OutlookOptions]
"DefaultPath"="Drive_Letter:\Your_prefferedFolder\"
Replace the Drive_letter with your desired, do same with Your_prefferedFolder. Then save as temp.reg, then just double click on it and say OK on popup window. Restart your outlook and be happy of a default folder location for your attachements.
Have fun !
Hey, thanks buddy, it works !
Great video but what if I just wanted to have saved attachments dropped to my Desktop there would be no need to create a new folder correct… just point file path to the Desktop?

Awesome! Thank you for posting this!
Slick! This hack works with Office/outlook 2007 also. The trick is to close and re-open outlook after creating the registry key..
Thanks, BTNHD
Does anyone know how to change it so when you open the attachment and click save as it saves to this location as well? Even if I change the save location in Word or Excel it defaults to my docs….
This works for the more current versions as well. Put the value in the 16.0 key under "Options" and presto!
mine are saved to "root" I did what you just did but nothing, still saving all attachments to root 🙁
You rock. I have been trying to figure this out, on and off, for a long time. This worked like a charm and I NEVER would have figured this out on my own. Shame on Microsoft and Cheers to you!
Thanks! Huge help and worked like a charm!
Hey Bernard, just wanted to say "THANKS" for this video. It worked like a champ on my Gateway laptop with Office 2013, and I just got a new 'puter with Office 2016 on it, and it still works there, too! Great to be able to direct those saved attachments where I want them to go! Thanks again!!

hello
i want know about how to received a mail in a particular name folder in particular folder.
for example i create a folder, name of John. and then i want to receive that mail in John folder send by John only
This worked when saving the attachment document from the open email. However, when I receive a .pdf Outlook attachment and I open the attachment, read, and then do Save As, it defaults to an obscure folder. How can I change this?
You genius, you, thanks so much. This is a job I have put off for ages, but well worth faffing round to get it right. Simply ridiculous that there's no simple option for this…
Great stuff! Thank you so much for this!
Do you know also how to change Word and Excel Default Save Locations?
Very good Thanks
