Absolutely! My step dad is from Belarus and it is quite a cool country and feels very Russian/Soviet although I must like to add that the country side is really cool if you like nature and Minsk is a quite urban city.

Sometimes the lack of anything interesting is interesting in and of itself. It makes you look into the subtle, the small scale, to find hidden things of interest. This is why I’d visit Eastern Europe, places like Minsk and others in the former Soviet Union.

Nice video about a nice and underrated city! I visited Belarus in November 2018, and really enjoyed both Minsk and the rest of the country (like Vitebsk, Hrodna, Brest and some places in between). It has a fascinating but rather tragic history, even when it feels pretty modern there's still quite a bit of the old school Soviet atmosphere left (much more so than in Russia), the people are very friendly though, and the food was surprisingly great! And visit the old town in the evening, and there will be lots of street artists and people just having a good time. Belarus is often called the last dictatorship in Europe, but to me, it never ever felt anything like that. I'd love to visit Belarus again some day!
